SFPA Confirms Successful Completion of Renewing Registration Approvals for Irish Exporters of Fish and Fishery Products to China

The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) confirms that the process of renewing registration approvals for Irish exporters of fish and fishery products to China has been successfully completed. This new requirement introduced last year by the Chinese competent authority, the General Administration of Customs China (GACC), marked a major change in how export registrations for Irish exporters trading with China are governed which represented a significant market access facilitation challenge.

The SFPA, in liaison with Department of Foreign Affairs colleagues in Beijing, have been working with the Irish fishing industry over the past six months to ensure as smooth a transition to this new regime as possible, which has also encompassed full migration of all Chinese export registration requests to a new GACC online portal.

Major Irish Producers/Exporters to China

All Irish exporters of fish and fishery products who contacted the SFPA to have their registrations renewed with GACC - 36 food business operators in total - have now successfully completed the process. Their registrations are valid until 2028.
