Alliance ANFACO-CECOPESCA and the Cámara Argentina Patagónica de Industrias Pesqueras (CAPIP)

  (SPAIN, 11/22/2023)

This agreement reinforces the commitment of both organizations to sustainable development and excellence in the Spanish and Argentine fishing sector.

ANFACO-CECOPESCA and the CÁMARA ARGENTINA PATAGÓNICA DE INDUSTRIAS PESQUERAS (CAPIP) have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting sustainable development and excellence in the fishing sector. This agreement establishes a strategic alliance that covers various key areas for strengthening the fishing industry, allowing commercial exchange and ensuring the sustainable future of current operations. Of particular importance is, for example, shrimp, hake or squid, among other products.

Both institutions will collaborate closely on technical advice and scientific research projects. By combining their knowledge and resources, they will work together to address common challenges and foster innovation in the fishing sector. The exchange of professionals and experts between ANFACO-CECOPESCA and CAPIP will be facilitated, allowing the development of joint projects and will strengthen the technical capacity of both parties.

On the other hand, ANFACO-CECOPESCA and CAPIP will organize technical and scientific events of relevance to the fishing sector. These meetings will offer a unique space for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices, promoting continuous progress in the industry.

Finally, both institutions will actively collaborate in actions aimed at strengthening the interests of the seafood processing sector in multilateral and bilateral negotiations. This joint coordination will promote a unified approach to face the global challenges of the fishing sector, and which has recently seen a first agreement to request an increase in the quantity for Argentine shrimp (pleoticus muelleri), within the new Regulation of autonomous tariff quotas for products of the fishing 2024-2026, the quantity of which is expected to increase.

In statements by Roberto Alonso, Secretary General of ANFACO-CECOPESCA: “The commercial relations of our associated companies with Argentina are key, thus having stable supplies of highly demanded products such as shrimp, hake or squid. Therefore, the agreement reaffirms the commitment to the Argentine operators grouped in CAPIP, with the maintenance of competitiveness and sustainability. We wish to thank its president, D. Agustín de la Fuente, for her constant vision of improvement and cooperation.”
