Several national and international companies remain interested in acquiring Acuinova, whose operations will be bid this week as part of the process led by the bankruptcy trustee Herman Chadwick, Landmark Capital and LarrainVial.
The Norwegian company Marine Harvest, the Canadian company Cooke Aquaculture and other investors under the aegis Econsult might have offered up to USD 180 million to buy the salmon firm, Estrategia reported.
Currently, Acuinova is part of the core assets that the Galician multinational firm Pescanova owns in Chile.
It is expected that this year, Acuinova produces around 19,000 tonnes of salmon, below 28,000 tonnes obtained in 2013.
According to industry sources consulted by this newspaper, the company is best positioned to acquire Acuinova would be Marine Harvest.
On the other hand, Nova Austral´s salmon subsidiary – Acuinova’s main asset -- is under negotiations with the Norwegian company Ewos, supplier of fish feed.
It was learned that Ewos may have offered about USD 180 million for the salmon firm located in Magallanes Region, which this year projects to produce about 15,000 tonnes.
PescaChile managed to obtain Pescanova’s consent a few weeks ago for Chadwick to be able to sell the assets in Chile.
With respect to the disposition of Acuinova’s assets, the trustee Mariclara González declared in June that that sale process would be intended to be "as competitive and transparent as possible to pay the maximum loan that is being verified in the bankruptcy," Diario Financiero informed.
