This report focuses on catch volumes and harvests of different species of shellfish in waters of the European Union. Besides, it deals with aspects such as fishing bans, prices, inventories, markets, imports and exports of the species mentioned.

During week 15, an importan number of beds dealing with mussel farming were closed in Galician estuaries, due to the presence of a toxin.

On Galician markets, during week 13, total volumes of auctioned shellfish increased by 1 ton. The most important increase was registered by Manila clam whereas the most significant drop was that in sea urchin.

On Mercamadrid, during week 13, supplies of shellfish declined in most species. Rises have been insignificant. The most important drops were those in frozen lobster, frozen cockles, fresh sea urchin and fresh farmed clam.

France

At French ports, during week 13, volumes of striped venus increased by 5.3 tonnes and those of Norway lobster by 2 tonnes.

Italy

At Italian ports, during week 13, the most important variations were the drops in mussel, crab, dye murex, mantis shrimp and stone crab. In the rest of the species, the variations have not been significant. The main ports were those of Goro, Ancona and Aci Trezza.

Spain

On Galician markets, during week 13, the prices of manila clam remained stable, despite the important rise in supplies. Those of sea urchin have increased because of an important drop in supplies. The most significant drop in absolute values was registered in Norway lobster. The most important rises were those in barnacle and ox crab.
