Escal was nominated finalist at the 2023 Seafood Excellence Global Awards for its frozen product Frutti di Mare all'Olio.

Committed to High Quality Sustainable Seafood

  (FRANCE, 10/25/2023)

Since 1967 Escal has been committed to providing its professional expertise through its wide range of high quality frozen seafood products. From the sea to your plate, Escal offers premium products fitting all the customers' needs for every ocassion.

The Escal brand is a guarantee of taste and quality of its seafood products. The company selects the best seafood in the oceans and farms worldwide.

Escal is  dedicated to the highest quality in all the work they do, from the sourcing of the best raw materials across the world, to the quality controls.  It starts with the research of the best raw materials across the world to the controls carried out by Escal’s quality department.

Escal offers several BIO and MSC certified products.

From the fishing to the packaging in the company’s manufacturing site in Strasbourg, the raw materials are controlled several times, both in the internal quality department and by independent laboratories. This notion of quality  is reinforced by the IFS certification, obtained in 2003.

Escal offers sustainable seafood products which preserve the natural resources and, is committed to transform its supply chain into a sustainable resource. Escal and all its stakeholders are making the choice to avoid fishing in critical capture areas in order to refrain from contributing to species at risk of extinction. By regularly controlling the species, fishing areas and fishing methods, Escal is able to meet its sustainable development criteria. This allows to optimize the company’s product range. For example, the endangered species are replaced by new species.

Escal has carefully selected 12 specific categories of shrimps which have a unique taste and have been fished/raised in the respect of the environment.

To minimize the environmental impact of transportation, Escal controls the transport chain as a whole in the manufacturing process. In the manufacturing, Escal ensures a precise water management by minimizing the useless water consumption and by watching sewage.

The company is also focusing on the reduction and sorting of waste. In this way, it is carrying a particular importance to the green point and replacing the non-recycling packaging, such as foil, in recycling material. 100% of Escal’s packaging is therefore recyclable.

Escal offers certified MSC, ASC and organic references. The logo on the packaging will allow you to recognize them in store.

Recently, Escal was nominated finalist at the 2023 Seafood Excellence Global Awards for its frozen product Frutti di Mare all'Olio, a South-European specialty made with delightful seafood (squids, mussels, shrimps) prepared in a marinade with olive oil and basil. The mussels and shrimp come from ASC farms, while the squid come from MSC fisheries.
