Three More Skretting Factories Awarded ASC Certification
(NORWAY, 8/8/2025)
With new certifications in Italy, Vietnam, and Australia, Skretting expands its global commitment to responsible feed production, setting a new industry benchmark.
STAVANGER — In a major move to advance global aquaculture sustainability, Skretting, a world leader in aquafeed, has been awarded ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification for three more of its factories. The new certifications in Italy, Vietnam, and Australia bring Skretting’s total number of ASC-certified facilities to 10 worldwide, further strengthening its position as a sustainability leader.

The certifications are particularly significant as they coincide with a major industry shift: as of October 31, 2025, ASC-certified farms will be required to use ASC-certified feed to maintain their own certification status. Skretting's expanding network is well-positioned to help producers meet this new requirement.
The ASC Feed Standard, launched in June 2021, sets a rigorous benchmark for responsible aquafeed production. It covers critical areas such as environmental stewardship, social responsibility, human rights, and ethical sourcing of raw materials. The certification for Skretting's factories was awarded by the Norwegian company DNV, an independent assurance provider.

National Milestones:
The latest certifications mark national milestones for all three countries:
-
Skretting Italy, on July 7, became the first feed plant in Italy to achieve ASC certification. Its certified plant produces feed for key species such as trout, sea bass, sea bream, and meagre. According to Giovanni Serrini, CEO of Skretting Italy, this certification is a crucial part of the company's commitment to ensuring a sustainable future.
-
Skretting Vietnam followed two weeks later, becoming the first in Vietnam to be certified for both shrimp and fish feed.
-
The month concluded on July 28 with Skretting Australia becoming the first feed facility in Australia to obtain the certification.
These latest achievements follow a series of certifications awarded earlier in the year, including Skretting Chile's Osorno plant (the world's first salmon feed plant to gain the certification), as well as facilities in Ecuador, Honduras, Canada, Norway, Japan, and Spain. Skretting Spain was notably the first aquafeed manufacturer in the European Union to receive this certification.
The company, headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, operates in 18 countries, producing over 3 million tons of high-quality feed annually for more than 60 species. "By continuing to expand the number of ASC-certified operations we have across the globe, Skretting is offering assurance to all its customers and partners, and creating real value in the aquaculture industry," said Jorge Diaz, Sustainability & Communications Director at Skretting
