Skretting Appoints New CEO, Reinforcing Commitment to Digital Transformation and Sustainability

  (NORWAY, 9/2/2025)

Maarten Bijl to lead global aquafeed leader as former CEO Bastiaan van Tilburg transitions to new role at parent company Nutreco.

STAVANGER Skretting, a global leader in the production of innovative and sustainable aquafeed, has announced the appointment of Maarten Bijl as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bijl succeeds Bastiaan van Tilburg, who will now serve as the CEO of Nutreco, Skretting's parent company. This leadership change, effective in 2025, signals a strategic focus on digital innovation and continuity in the company's long-term vision.

A Focus on Digital Leadership

Maarten Bijl brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having joined Nutreco in 2021 as Managing Director for Trouw Nutrition North America. Since June 2024, he has served as Nutreco’s Chief Digital Officer and a member of the Management Board, leading a company-wide digital transformation. His work has focused on leveraging new technology and data insights to accelerate growth and meet customer needs within both Skretting and Trouw Nutrition.

Bijl expressed his enthusiasm for his new position, stating, “I am greatly honoured to have the opportunity to lead and support the Skretting team. Over my last 4.5 years in Nutreco, I’ve gotten to know the Skretting business well through many positive interactions with our employees and customers. The Skretting brand stands out for its continuous innovation, its focus on people and partnerships, and its commitment to making the industry more sustainable. I look forward to continuing to work with our teams and customers around the world as we strive to be the number one nutritional solutions provider within aquaculture.”

Continuity and Future Vision

Bastiaan van Tilburg, the outgoing CEO, praised Bijl as a strong internal successor. “I am very thankful to the Skretting team for the progress we’ve made together and happy that we have strong, internal succession in place with Maarten,” said van Tilburg. He emphasized that the leadership change does not signal a shift in the company's strategic direction. “The change in leadership does not reflect a change in strategy, and Skretting customers and partners everywhere can expect continuity and the same spirit of dedication, service, and collaboration.”

Before his time at Nutreco, Bijl spent 12 years with its parent company SHV, holding various strategy and management roles in Europe and Asia. He also held global positions at TNT NV (now FedEx). He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an Executive MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management. This background positions him well to lead Skretting's ongoing efforts to innovate and expand its presence in the global aquaculture market.
