Angulas Aguinaga has once again registered another year of growth.

Angulas Aguinaga doubles its presence in international market

  (SPAIN, 2/25/2019)

Angulas Aguinaga reported a turnover of EUR 186 million in 2018, 15 percent more than in 2017, continuing the trend registered in previous years.

This good result has to do with a greater market share of the La Gula del Norte brand, the reformulation of its Krissia surimi products with lower fat content and the consolidation of its Aguinamar brand.

The 'Angulas del Norte' have been the commercial starting point of the group

It also influenced the company´s good performance in international markets, mainly in France and Italy, which has allowed it to double its international presence from 8 percent to 17 percent in just one year. In this sense, the company explains that the incorporation of the octopus producer and distributor Viveros Merimar  to its business has been "fundamental" for the consolidation of Angulas Aguinaga at European level.

"2018 has been a year of acceleration in the growth of Angulas Aguinaga, in fact, the one with the highest increase so far. This has only been possible thanks to the innovation and the excellent team of people that form Angulas Aguinaga. Together, innovation and our team will be the ones that help us to push ourselves to go further and overcome our strategic plan foreseen for 2020," said Angulas Aguinaga CEO, Ignacio Muñoz.

The company plans to bill around EUR 220 million by 2020, in line with its strategic plan. In order to achieve this goal, it will focus on accelerating the development of its three brands and increasing its presence in the Horeca (hotels, restaurants and cafés) and international channels, with France and Italy as the main markets.

"This year, we have managed to double our presence in the international market and we are very proud of the growth achieved. However, we do not want to stay here, but our goal is that Angulas Aguinaga and its brands can be increasingly present abroad, starting with our neighboring countries, so that our exports represent 24 percent in terms of turnover at the end the year," added Muñoz.

Part of the different products and brands of the group

In terms of innovation, Angulas Aguinaga also hopes that this year will be very relevant in terms of innovation, given that after becoming "the first food company" to incorporate blockchain technology, it will start to implement it.

In addition, recently the company has been chosen by CDTI to lead the "Conoce" project, which will involve six other food companies and five Spanish research centers, to meet consumers needs and improve the success rate of new products that are launched to the market.
