Angulas Aguinaga buys octopus producer Viveros Merimar

Angulas Aguinaga has acquired Viveros Merimar, a company specialized in the production and distribution of octopus and owner of brands such as Meripul and Merimar.

With this acquisition, the parent company of La Gula del Norte accelerates its growth and expects to bill this year an amount close to EUR 200 million.

"We are delighted to add our family to Merimar Viveros, not only because of its leadership in the octopus sector, but because together we can grow faster in a sector of great growth both nationally and internationally. We are convinced that joining the group will make it easier for us. our mission to revolutionize food at the service of the consumer," said Ignacio Muñoz Calvo, Angulas Aguinaga CEO.

For his part, the director and president of Viveros Merimar, Conrado Merino, who will remain in charge after the acquisition, said: "I am very proud of what we have built in Viveros Merimar, but above all, I am very excited about the new stage starting now because I am convinced that together with Angulas Aguinaga we can take this project much further".

Angula Aguinaga explained that the activity of the acquired company is "consistent" with its own strategic plan until 2020, with which it intends to reinforce its presence "in one of its main business activities, such as the octopus case, and continues its plans of expansion, both in the national and international markets".
